The Austrian-Indian Institute was founded in 2011 to promote Indo-Austrian friendship, to create outstanding cultural events featuring some of the most renowned artists in East and West and to facilitate intercultural dialogue.

The Austrian-Indian Institute was founded by eminent artists Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Gerald Wirth, Arno Krimmer and Christian Schulz who were supported in their endeavour by Anil Shastri, son of India’s second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The most remarkable feature of the Austrian-Indian Institute is probably its great diversity – It organizes events in genres as different as Indian Classical Music, Western Classical Music, Jazz, Indian Classical Dance, Drama, Modern Dance, Sufi Music, Electronic Music, Poetry, Bollywood, HipHop and has a special interest in creating unique Fusion Music never heard before.
